1.5 will work better. The wider they are the slower the flow the more effective the trap. I don't use any bubble traps on my fuge, but I also don't have bubbles in my overflow due to it's design. You will probably get bubbles in yours and need to account for them. Looks much better.

Why thank you. :) So I should use reactors instead of filter cartridges? Or is this more of a personal preference?

Where can I go to get the egg crate material?

About how much does 1/8" and 1/4" glass cost?

Could I go with cartridges and bio-balls for now and switch them out when I can afford to buy 2 reactors?

I am uncertain on what exact filter I will use but I guess I miss-worded this. Instead of an actual single use cartridge I was thinking more about larger sheets you can cut to fit any size tank.

    I'm unfamiliar with "GFO".

Ya I used that floss too... but I wanted to reduce operating costs and maintenance as much as possible. I hated changing out floss every 3-4 days. The thicker stuff lasted a week at most.

You can switch later. BRS is the best for bulk chemicals. A reactor only cost $40.

Egg crate can be had at any big box home improvement store.

I buy my carbon and GFO in bulk. Reactors are more efficient use of the media.

    What's GFO?

Can I put the reactors in-sump along with everything else?

LOL, just to avoid the common question thats gonna come next, look for "light difusers" not "egg crate" or nobody in the store will have a clue what your asking for.

Hahah that would explain why I can't find anyone selling it online even, except for like bulk retailers.
