algae question

    I could tell you did not run carbon as well as I could look at the water and see the Ca and carbonates where exhausted . Any idea of the magnesium levels ? With a little tank like this you have to stay on top of the levels all the time daily until you dial them in..

    No I do not know the magnesium.
    How would I run carbon?

    Do you add buffering agents to off set the acids in the water ? as for the magnesium thats needed just as much as Ca and DKH and as for carbon It would depend on how you have the tank set up and type you have out little cube has a rear wall where I put a bag of carbon inplace of the spong blocks

    what kind of buffering agents?

    Would a water change help?

    And also how do I get the green algae off or will it come off on its own

    dude do you have the instructions to the api calcium kit. you really don't need the color card. the color is "blue" The card tells your that when the liquid in the test tube is blue then the test is over.

    tell me after how many drop the water turned to blue? if it is let say 15 drop = 300ppm calsium. you need 400-450ppm for best. but u have to use buffer b/c while adding cal. ph level might be dropped. i have first green algae than turning purple but it is little bit dark purple. i know, i need time.
