Algae problem

    Personnally, I'd definitely trash the tubes. At a minimum, I'd run a controlled experiment and take them out for a few months and see if your problem improves.

    How deep is your current sand bed? If you have at least 2", I think you are fine.

    My "theory" based on this thread is that your filter and ceramic tubes are nitrate factories supplying the nutrients for the algae.

    My next steps would be to a) clean the filter. b) remove the tubes. c) limit feeding. d) do a large water change. e) a major hand cleaning of the algae in there. f) getting EcoBak from Warner Marine.

    I feel better about those recommendations because they address possible root causes... your filter and ceramic tubes.

    I'd put your PO4 remover in a sack and the EcoBak in that reactor.

    Ive never heard of this sera brand stuff. I couldn't really find any reviews on it either. It may not be doing a good job on the phosphate and the testing.

    The two main po4 medias available in the uk are
    SERA phosivec (GERMANY)
    and
    ROWAPHOS po4 media.

    I have used both and they both are effective at removing p04.
