I've looked through the stickies and searched, but I'm not seeing this.

As far as I can tell, this is only growing on this one powerhead. But notice the purple, little hair balls along the edge of the PH. That's what I am trying to ID. So I can decide if I need to remove it or not.

Thanks Mission. That link looks like same to me!

I don't think snails are my answer (yet) as it is on the PH edge only... but I am putting this here so if it spreads I can reference my own thread for an answer:

copy/paste from mission's link: '"Mexican turbo snail," saying it would eat the red turf algae'

In the mean time, I'll just clean this PH!

Oh and here's a neat reference site:

Mexican Turbos will eat anything but usually get so big that they will knock over rocks and corals

    Hi Pered!

Take it off that powerhead, don't wait around when a possible nuisance is on a powerhead. It is spraying your tank with bits and pieces and spores all the time. Algae can really take off under those circumstances. Too small to tell what you have, but it doesn't look like anything you would want, rinse and soak in vinegar and rinse again. How are thing in the tank otherwise?

    Thanks John!

Good to hear from you. My blennies jumped (one did, then the replacement did). This caused two things to happen.

    1. I started getting litte patches of GHA in spots the inverts can't reach (PH).
    2. I built an egg crate lid to help keep blennies in (fingers crossed).

So now I have another blenny. Hopefully this will take care of those patches of GHA on my pipes and PH the snails never get on and the egg crate will hold him in...

Other than that, I am happy to report no real CuC die-off. I am so incredibly pleased with the crew I got from you. Lost a few of the larger Nerites and my chitons all bit it, but I still have everything else.

I cut the fire fern and flame algae back a bit to help wiht the slow decay of it and I am happy to say they have stopped dwindling and started to grow!!! They are very nice looking in my DT.

I have two turbo's in my tank, and they will eat turf algae. They will also go right on out on the powerhead and clean it off nicely for me ;)

manual cleaning, just pull the powerhead out. Good to clean it every now and then anyway.
