    You need to drain the tank partially and find the exact leak point. Then go to somewhere like Petco and get some of the clear aquarium silicone. Apply the silicone and let dry for 24hrs in a well vented area (smells like a vinegar smell). Then refill to the top after 24hrs.

    Draining doesn't always help you find the leak point; a small crack at the bottom can have water forced through it when the tank is fully filled but not half filled.

    Do some detective work. Get a flashlight, dry off the tank, and look.

    Exactly, clearance doesn't necessarily mean "as-is sale." It doesn't hurt to ask since it was brand new, and it wasn't user damage that caused the leak.
