Well  Monday 16th of August for me here so here are a couple more pictures of rock :)

THe rock has a good covering of brown algae, but the growth seems fairly weak.  I occassionally give it a blast with a turkey baster and some of it comes away easily.  It's definately stronger in density at the end of the day and sometimes even shows air bubbles, which I assume are Nitrogen.  There are also very occassional air bubbles coming from the rock and sand.

Ammonia and Nitrite are both zero so it looks about time to introduce a ittle fishy

This shot is just a close up but ( with some squinting ) you can see the beginning of green algae growing :)

You're making this way too easy :)

Air bubbles in the algae doesn't sound like diatoms to me. Any chance that it could be slime?

There is a slight dusting of Diatoms on the glass mainly, but the majority is definately not Diatoms and as you suggest probably some sort of slime algae. It's already receding and new patches of some sort of green hair algae is growing.

Well Craig, I have to admit it, [smiley=shame.gif] it is adopted, [smiley=shocked2.gif] [smiley=shocked2.gif] and it came with the live rock, so please don't tell Jerry Springer, I couldn't stand the shame and humiliation [smiley=shame.gif]
