For Hard Plumbed setups, unions work great for quick disconnects.

Former Eheim user here...pump died last week while I was on a business trip, and the wife didn't notice. Changed the pump out to a spare Mag 18 I have. So far, I've only lost 3 Acro colonies and 2 frags. I love this hobby!

I have a Mag 12 that is ~10 years old; no sponge and still puts out great flow! Soon to be replaced by my DC pump that just arrived, so the Eheim will be put on the shelf to collect dust as an emergency pump.

Thanks you Jon. I was hoping someone would speak about from the PVC side.

Sorry to hear that. How old was your Eheim FOD?
