    Black Plexi

I was able to pick up some black plexi glass from a plastic store somewhat near by and I was able to install it into the overflow box. This way instead of seeing the inside of the overflow and the elbows you just see more black background. I left the bottom uncovered though so that light can still shine through the bottom.

Good idea with the black plastic I was looking at getting the smoked glass in gray, couldn't find black glass, for the front and sides of mine. May just get some thin plastic instead since that's probably a lot cheaper.

I would have gone with the smoked glass but I didn't even know about it until I already had my clear glass cut... it would have been $35 for the smoke compared to $18 for the clear.

Great work Scott, one big problem though. Silicone does not adhere to acrylic. It may look like it does, but any pressure it will pop.. You may want to use black plastic or glass instead. That is why plastic is used on overflow boxes & trim.. If you have a scrap piece of acrylic, put some silicone on it & let it harden for a day or a week it doesn't matter. Then rub your thumb on it, it will come off as if it was never there.

The reason is that glass is still porous, but not enough to let water through. Acrylic however is not, so the silicone has nothing to adhere to.

I learned this lesson on my sump/fuge build. It's on my 90gal thread in detail when the dividers popped on a test run.

As soon as I saw this I wanted to let you know, before you start filling with water.

:D Ya it has a glass overflow box I just used black plastic to block the view of the internals. It slides in and out of the glass overflow box.

Thanks for the heads up I don't think I have done anything to wrong so far the only things that I would change if I could is the ball valves and some better fail safe siphon breaks (which I will probably still fix).
