You've hot an extremely beautiful tank. It makes me want to start a freshwater but I can't keep freshwater going for some reason!

Thanks guys! Whippy all it takes is lots of plants and CO2!

Get a canister for mechanical filtration and the plants take care of the biological.

The CO2 provides abundant carbon source for the plants and there you have it!

The trickiest part is dialing in the CO2 to match the amount of light.

Good to know. Now I should have you know that although I have a reef-thumb...on the plant side I'm awful. I can grow a literal forest of basil but I can't keep a regular house plant alive to save my life!

Here is a video of the tank I took a couple days ago. The kribensis have been showing off for each other non stop. I caught some neat behavior... today one of the kribs started to dig out his cave, there is a huge pile of sand at the entrance. He is picking up the sand in his mouth and spitting it out. I couldn't get a video of that behavior unfortunately.

thanks, yeah they are super cool fish. I find that they have so much personality along with the other south american dwarf cichlids. The harems they keep and the territorial behavior they display is really fascinating.
