    Hi there,
I am new to the whole "planted community" thing, and even though I have a saltwater reef I will be upgrading it. Leaving the 55g behind, which is what I will use for this planted tank. I just need some ideas here. Throw a stock list at me. Also, will 2x54w t5's be enough for plants?

    Thank you

What kind of plants do you like? What kind of fish do you plan on keeping?

I do suggest getting Siamese algae eaters to control your algae, best you can buy.

That's the thing, I'm not sure. I have never owned a planted community. Any suggestions for plants?

    As for fish I like
    Discus
    Neon Tetras
    Black Veil Angelfish
    Danios
    Clown Loaches
    Cory Catfish
    Ghost Knifes
    Whiptail Cats

Amazon swords are neat but you will only want one in your tank, they grow quite large.

Cryptocorynes are low light plants with a variety of shapes and sizes.

Rotalas have some red coloration for contrast.

Anubias are very easy to keep and have large leaves and grow quite slowly.

Go to aquariumplants.com to see their selection of plants to get an idea of what types of plants you like. They also have a great substrate.
