    Correct, but even with RO/DI you will get your diatom bloom. It goes away, though, so nothing to worry about. Keep using RO/DI or it will come back!

    +1. Even if you use a little bit of tap water in a pinch you will probably get them back lol.

    Yea ill definitely use only ro/di water. For some reason its so hard to get people to realize why i needed to buy the ro/di unit.. they dont understand why tap water is bad lol

    I hate waitinggg haha. Im thinkin, should i run the tank with an open top or should i get a class cover? J/w cause today one of my puffers jumped out of its tank.. good thing i was there to see it or he'd be done for!!

    Tops can be a pain because:

    1) They can get dirty and thus start limiting light penetration - they are an extra maintenance item.

    2) They limit gas exchange - not as much of an issue if you have a skimmer.

    3) They insulate the tank potentially causing cooling issues.

    What some people have done is to create a "screen" of sorts using bird netting stretched around a frame and inserted where the top would go. It doesn't block light and keeps gas/temperature exchange at max.
