they make a mesh for tanks that you would just make a frame and attach it to it and set it just inside the rim of the tank.

 

Yea if i decide to put the puffers in the tank ill have to make a mesh cover.. good idea.

 

I wouldn't use the glass tops either. The best option is "bird netting" IMO...doesn't have much effect on light penetration, but keeps your fish in.

This kind of stuff:

Clear 1/4" Screen Netting 6.5' x 2.5' - English

Yea ill give that a shot at some point. I need to figure out a temp solution for my lights right now untill i buy a new fixture, which wont be until i decide to add a few corals once the tank stabilizes a bit

 

If i bought some llive rock such as this Live rock n reef base rock,Premium Corraline Base Rock to help seed my tank, I would need to have some good lights on it from the beginningn right? or else will all the coralline algae die??

 

The better the lights, the less likely the chance of the coraline algae dieing off.
