LOL, hopefully you will not experience it. The only way to successfully remove it is with Siamese Algae Eaters, Seachem Excel or removing the affected parts of the leaves. It does not readily detach. It is part of the red algae family.

    Thats interesting

would any of the species of Plecostomus be any use in control of that algae? I have a desire to add a Golden Nugget plec to this tank

No the Siamese is the only known consumer of the nasty stuff. They should get along OK if you want to use both.

    Well its nowhere near finished
but with the addition of a centre piece bogwood, covered in plants
plus a few swords and vallis its starting to take shape

did not allow enough gravel so pots are on show for foreground plants
Ill add a bit more over the next week or so

tank has been set up with a pair of platties and half a dozen neons in for over a month now

so added a couple of my favourite freshwater fish today

    nice blue patterned Discus

fed on bloodworms withing 30 minutes of release from the bag
and stayed front and centre (tank bred and raised so not as shy as their wild relations IME)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    It is just Beautiful Steve!

I absolutely love the Discus, my favorite freshwater fish by a long shot. Great coloration to those two and I imagine it will only get better.

Easily as attractive as any SW tank IMHO.

Nice looking tank, that is my next endeavor. I have not had a fresh water tank over 6 gallons in 20 years. I have a 56G column that I will soon be converting from Salt over to fresh. what is the plant that is on the little bridge in front?
