The California Academy of Sciences recently discovered 300 new species in the Philippines in 42 days. Perhaps you are like me and think about cyanide when you think of the Philippines, but, even threatened, it remains an extremely diverse hotspot. Their expedition discovered new species with nearly every dive including a barnacle that lives symbiotically on Black coral.

That's great news! Recently a similar study was released from New Guinea which found around 1000 new species, and many of them were marine. I love these kinds of articles!
