I don't know if it would fit, but you could probably get away with 6-8 Rapid PAR38s with 80 degree optics.

What ideas do you have for hanging those?

If you go to a Home Depot type store you can find some decent kitchen/bathroom fixtures that will house multiple bulbs. I don't think I can link another forum but this picture is something that someone showed us the other day: [IMG]

You could also hang them from pendant lights light people have over kitchen islands. The longer ones should work fine. This is what I am going to do over my 29g with 3 par30s. Just remember with par38s you'll need a bigger shade.

I thought they would run to hot in there where it doesn't have ventilation.

What is that thing in the middle?

Ok, that I was definitely something I was told I could not do. That was my original plan some months back.

That's a solotube. - basically a skylight with duct housing which reflects light into the tank - natural lighting.

I was thinking so, until BoostLED complimented me on the idea? Rep on here said it would be ok as long as I don't use can lights.

The par30s (from Boost) are 2.75" in diameter. The shade I'm going to use is 4" x 4" square.

They will get hot if in an enclosed space, but if you could get a couple fans in the enclosure then that should work just fine. Any reason why you were told you couldn't do that other than heat?
