I am going to make a 2-part dosing system, but won't be using bulk amounts of Ca or baking soda...I'm not sure I trust it...

Anyhow, I am going to use:

    Seachem Reef Advantage Ca &
    Seachem Reef Builder (dKH)

I was wondering what amount of these chemicals should be used to create one gallon of solution, and then if there is a link to a site or calculator which will estimate the amount added each to the system.

I have a net volume of about 80-85g

    Thanks so much!

I would use Bulk Reef supplies 2 part system. Cheaper in the long run and they have a mixing directions right on thier web site.

I will third that recommendation. My calcium reactor is down right now so I bought the BRS bulk mix and its a snap.

....and I fourth that recommendation. The Seachem stuff is good, but very expensive compared to bulk.

I should have mentioned that I plan to use that system when I run out of the seachem stuff...but I don't wanna just throw this stuff away.

So with that, anyone have a mixing recipe?

    And thanks for the comments!

Mix it to the point where you get like 37000ppm calcium in a gallon, and 5300 dKH in a gallon, since that's around standard for the gallon solutions. It should tell you on the back that X amount raises 1 gallon by Y.

Solve for X in these equations after plugging in Y from the back of the bottle. Make sure Y is adjusted for 1 gallon:

    For Calcium: 37000ppm = X * Y

    For Alk: 5300dKH = X * Y, or 1900 meq/L = X * Y

Thank you, but I'm still a bit confused....I've been adding it via a drip system for a while now, but I have to mix it everyday and then suck some airline tubing to create syphon.

My goal is to make a standard mix (much like the BRS system) in a 1 gallon container, and then allow it to drip at a determined rate as needed...

For the calcium, you need 70.3 tsp or 351.5 grams to make one gallon of BRS-strength mix.

For alk, you need 101.3 tsp or 608 grams.

^ Using the calculator that was linked.
