Yesterday my flame firefish was dead in my tank and just got home from work and my emperor cardinal is now dead, all my tank tests are ok and havent changed much in the last 3 weeks
    amm 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 30ish
    phos 0.25
    calcium 450
    alk 9.5

the only new addition to the tank has been a few hermit crabs and some marina bacteria balls, all the other fish are doing fine.
    any ideas?

It may not have been the params- rarely is.

Maybe something/disease/parasite came in on the Hermits?

    WHAT are marina bacteria balls?

Sorry for your loss, hope all is well

Isn't 30ppm considered high for Nitrates?

Corals..yes..fish, depends on the fish. I consider it high regardless if there is anything in the tank at all and it should be addressed.
