    Huh, that's the first I've heard of this. Do all clowns have this with age or just maroons?

    Most clown species exhibit stripe loss/alteration with age but the teardrop look I have only seen on Gold stripe Maroons.

    today was a bad start for the new year, i found my clown dead this morning in the bottom of my tank. it was 14.5 years. i buried her in the yard under a concrete planter. thanks for all the comments. and now it is time to end this thread.:(
