Fuge's size should be 1/10 the size of the display tank. The water should be delievered straight from the main tank so it gets the dirty water to filter. You should also run 1/10 the size of the dispaly tank across it. 100g tank = 10g fuge with 10gph across it.

Watch your LFS, most of them are out to make a buck and will sell you tire with no air in it if you let them. They would just say that the air is an option...:Halloween49:

Make sure you get a reliable person at your lfs. My lfs is the only store i've been to where he won't sell you something....If it's not right for the tank... Take it from Otty, he's DEAD on with that comment...lmao

Ditto on the LFS. There is one in town I used to frequent. Evertime I went in with a problem I'd walk out with a much lighter wallet. There advice always seemd confusing too. Luckily we have two stores in town. Went to the other one and the owner wouldn't sell me some of his fish because he wasn't sure yet if they were heathy enough. He absolutely refused. He's also willing to take time out and explain things to me, even when he has to use a big colored crayon and draw colorful pictures to help me understand. Guess where I go now.

Not more then a 10 gallon tank and then about 10 gallons per hour to trickle through that as Otty mentioned and that feed water should come right from the main tanks drain before it hits the sump and no skimmer and no filtration of that refugium supply water at all.
