I guess I don't understand the wood thing as opposed to glass. Why wood? Any advantage? Seems there would be more issues using wood.......

Wood is much lighter than glass. Same size tank in glass versus wood is much heavier.

Wood tanks are SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than glass tanks.

The real savings multiplier comes with size though. The bigger the tank, the more plywood makes sense.

Also, from what I've read, once you get it all epoxied and sealed, they are actually far more durable.

You can make 3 or even 4 sided viewable woody's.

I almost made mine 2 sides viewable. In retrospect, I should have, but it isn't that bad provided you don't drop a frag in back.

Less weight, less cost, stronger, and you make it yourself to your specs.

Use epoxy and it is like an inside out boat, and strong as all get out.

To be honest, a properly built epoxy/ wood tank will outlast an all glass constructed tank.
