Day 2 of "feeding my fish" one cube of San Francisco Bay frozen mysis 3.5 oz cubes, things are moving along nicely.

    Temp: 80
    Ph: 8.0
    Ammonia: 1.0 - down from 2.0 yesterday
Nitrite: 0.50 - up from 0 ppm yesterday
    Nitrate: 0 - unchanged

Still waiting on my refractometer to come in to keep on top of the salinity. Tested the premix at the lfs when I got all 125 gallons and it was at 1.025. Had about 1.5 gallons evaporation over the last 2 days which I topped off with RODI. Not too shabby.

Tank is starting to clear up some more but it did get pretty nasty yesterday after I put one of my MP40s in the tank and had mounted it too low. Caused quite a dust storm.

    And the cycle continues...

So I put in my order to BuildMyLEDs.com at 8:04 am this morning and at 1:56 pm today I get this e-mail:

    Now that's fast!

    Tank update:

Day 5 of the cycle. Still "feeding my fish" daily.

    Temp: 80
    Ph: 8.0
    Ammonia: 2.0
    Nitrite: 1.5
    Nitrate: 20 ppm

I tested all of the above 3 times to make sure that they were correct as I haven't heard of many people getting spikes in all 3 at the same time. Looks like things are coming along nicely.

Maybe I should stop ghost feeding to let things stabilize?

That is fast. Gotta like that!

I think you can stop ghost feeding. You've got plenty of ammonia there to allow the bacteria cycle to complete. From there, add you fish 1 at a time and give it a week or so between additions. That will allow your bacteria time to adjust to the new bio-load.

Sounds like you're on your way to a good start!

Thanks! That's what I figured but wanted to make sure ;)

Still going to be a week or two before I even consider adding livestock. Lights are on order and still need to get my skimmer, RO/DI unit, APEX and other goodies. Once I get all that in I should be good to go.

Since it's going to be a good 2 weeks before I add in some livestock you think I should ghost feed every 3 or 4 days just to keep the bacteria from completely dying off without anything in the tank?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would keep ghost feeding just a tiny amount.

Thanks! I have been feeding a full 3.5oz cube of San Francisco Bay frozen mysis so I guess I can cut that down to 1/2 a cube and see how the parameters look.

Got my lights in and installed. The pictures don't do it justice.

Been a busy couple of days... Apex is in, lighting, pumps, heaters and network all programed. Got the skimmer in today and got that installed as well. My BRS group buy order comes in tomorrow with my RODI unit, ato and other goodies so it'll be a busy weekend for me.

Did a 10 gal water change and parameters are 0's across the board even with the 5 chromis I put in the tank.
