Sounds good thanks.. I will look for that size bar..im not to to worried as I have 2 semi lg fans in the sides or\f the canopy already.and they way my halide reflectors are it shouldn't be a prob..
Going to place the order tonight, planning on running all 12 that come in the kit..also did some reading and if I get the mlc/alc for my RKL I could use the dimming effect..but will prob just get the non-dim one..(not sure if I would really need it lol)..looking forward to this..see what you've started here..lol..jk

    EDIT..order placed ;D :trampolin

thats about what I imagined in my head. you could put 1 more in the center opening, and if u had room done the road run a bar accross the back of the three openings.. what degree lens did u decide on and how high will the leds be above waterline?

60 degree lens. Not sure about height as of yet, have to see when I'm building. Will also have to build brackets to hold them above rim. It also depends on if I decide to go with T5s or more LEDs for the rest of my lighting.

just test out the light strip at different heights before making it permanent.. you'll find your own sweet spot. A smaller degree lens (20,40) will give u more par at the center of the beam.. just less spread/coverage and more of a spotlighting effect.. also if I didnt mention earlier the shimmer is so nice to have, without relying on MHs to do it.

Here's the 3w cree xr series led colors and wavelengths for reference.

    Wavelength (nm) Max Current (ma)
    Royal Blue 455 – 465 700
    Blue 465 – 475 700
    Cyan 500 – 510 700
    Green 520 – 535 700
    Amber 585 – 595 350
    Red-Orange 610 – 620 700
    Red 620 – 635 700

I wonder how mixing in a few blue, cyans with a bunch of royal blue would look over a reef tank.

Got my LEDs today. Let the building begin. Should be done by tomorrow morning. Easy as pie (I don't really know what that means but people around here say it).
