i bought my first anenome about 2 months ago. I have a 180 and its in pretty good shape all in all. Small hair algae outbreak going on but thats about it. I make a habit of doing a 1/3 water change every month. Rarely lose anything. I recently bought a percula, bi colored blenny, and some rock from a lady who was moving. (Which is where the algae came from grrrr). I wanted the perc to have a place to hang. The anenome latched on and spread out right away. Looked really happy under the halide. The perc though has no idea what its for so that didn't work out. Must have been tank raised i guess. Anyway, a couple weeks later i did my monthly water change and while vacuming the sand around the anenome it let loose and just wont latch on again no matter where i put it. After trying to place it several times I thought just let it go. Figured it would bob around until it eventually liked a place and would latch on by itself but its been probably 3 weeks and it just continues to roll where the current takes it. Which always seems to be the back of the tank by one chimney. I turned off one of my hydors to lessen the current thinking that might help but no luck. I would love to get it to live higher in the tank on the rock but if it wants the sand im fine with that. I just dont want to lose it. I don't tbink there is very much on this planet that smells worse than a dead anenome. So my question is, does anyone have any hints on what to do to get this guy to latch in some place?

the simple answer is let it be..... however we would need to know more about your system.... have you tested your water? if so what are your parameters? the fact you have algae blooms makes me think your water is not on point....this is especially problematic for sebaes (if this is what you mean by "blue tip malu") as they are notoriously difficult to keep... second biggie is lighting, what are you using?

to my knowledge they pretty much solemnly burrow their foot in the sand bed as opposed to crevasses higher up in the rock work, so your best bet is to let it roam and find a spot it likes.... dont keep moving it as it will only move again on its own, consuming energy and eventually killing it... I would not feed it either until its settled...

you were right in turning off your power heads as it would have been only a matter of time before it ends up shredded, however this cant go on for long as it will hinder gas exchange.....
