Blue hippo tang with ich

the original idea was to buy a clown tang but i got the blue instead what do u think about the clown tang is he an emo too.

 

They all are. It's just in their blood I guess. I'm sure some tangs are more susceptible than other tangs, but all tangs are more susceptible than other fish. What size is your tank?

 

i have a 55 gallon with about 40 or more LB of live rock and some small soft coral

 

Usually ich don't affect clowns too much. I have a yellow and blue tang and they both had ich when I got them over a yr ago, after I treated the tank with kick-ich it went away, I just try to keep my tank as healthy as possible so they could hopefully fight it off. Maybe when I upgrade to a bigger tank I'll QT all the fish and try to build a QT system with multiple tanks that would work for everything.

Note: I did QT all my fish for 4-6 weeks and still ended up with ich in the beginning, must have come in water with corals, crabs, snails or something else.

hey Irr i was reading on that article u send me and that hypo deal would it kill my live rock too along my polyps my English is a bit ruff thats why im asking you once again.?

 

The hypo may kill the organisms living in/on the rock, but it will not kill the beneficial bacteria on the rock. Your polyps, however, wouldn't survive. Once you're done with the hypo, you can always re-seed your liverock by simply putting a fresh piece in your tank. If you DO decide to do the hypo..be sure to read up on it. If the salinity is too high it won't kill the parasites. If it is too low it will kill your fish. I would use a refractometer (got mine for 40 bucks) instead of a swing-arm hydrometer just to be sure you're accurate.

 

Ok, this may sound like a dumb question, but how do you add garlic to the food?

 

You can either go to the grocery store and get a bottle of garlic extract..or go to your LFS and spend 5 times more and get Kent Garlic XTreme..pretty much the same thing..just soak whatever kind of food you use in just a few drops (its pretty potent) of the garlic juice for an hour or so then feed. Some people strain their food so all of the garlic goes to the food not in the water around it after you melt it.

 

The pellet food I feed on a daily basis has garlic in it. I am sure its a tiny amount but is that a good thing that they get this in their diet all the time?
