my remora aqua c skimmer has been way overproducing foam for a week now and i cant even put the collection cup on it. i have found out that novaqua water conditioner is the cause...specifically the body slime builder ingredient in the conditioner. i added the conditioner to my tank in fear that i accidentally introduced a little chlorine from bleach. does anyone know how i can get this stuff out of my tank and get my skimmer functioning again? i did a water change today and it did nothing

i have the same skimmer and it has been collecting alot of the tank water in its break-in period. My solution was to adjust the collection cup to the highest point you can adjust, ideally the dry skim mode. Just empty out the cup as much as possible, for it will fill up pretty quick. I figured the stuff that is being pulled out doesn't really need to be placed back in the tank. In a matter of days the skimmer will reduce the amount of water drawn by the skimmer cup and you'll still have to wait longer for the micro bubbles to dissapear. This is an excellent skimmer and the troubles are well worth the hassles. As far as the bleach, i would just add Seachem's prime. You really can't OD the tank, and it is good for lowing ammonia anyways. If the bleach has not already killed any livestock then dont worry about it. I used bleach to convert the LR into base rock, and prime was the solution to neutralize the bleach.
