    Hi All

S/W aquarium is new to me, have had fresh water all the time, the question that I have is do I run the protein skimmer from day 1 of setting the tank up, or wait until tank cyles. I have 100 gal with an Emperor 400 power filter running now, with 60lbs of live rock, live sand. And once the tank cycles who/what make the best tank janitors, and how many. Thanks in advance.

wait til after the cycle. different kinds of snails are great for CUC. some like hermits, some dont trust them.

Should I add any power heads to help with water flow? And what is a CUC?

flow wont hurt anything. if you are slowly buying your powerheads, you can add them as the cycle progresses, but i wouldnt let the water sit "still" during the cycle. CUC=clean up crew.

PHs are good. +1 on wait on the skimmer until end of cycle. Run only actinics until end of cycle. Talk to John Maloney at Reefcleaners.org about a good CUC. There is a form in the custom CUC section that you can fill out and he will suggest the rest. Very good and reliable seller.
