It may well be a slight nitrite spike from the shipping bag ? They melt once they start seldom do they recover from any exposure to Nitrites and less seldom when exposed to ammonia. I'd guess its just a simple inverting to up take new water. that can take a few days , lighting water temps and circulation all being factors.. And not actually seeing them its all just a guess based on what I have experienced with them.. Put all the symptoms to memory :)

It can cause spikes and if its rolls up on corals or clams it will burn them if left in place to long.. It takes it awhile to breakup and dissolve away. Thats why I never feed anemones.. Its nasty looking also LOL

Well...I had to scoop what was left of the one out this morning. There were white chunks floating all over the tank. I threw it out, it was black. Not smelly, just disolving, like melting and stringy. The other seems ok right now. Still has the white junk comming out of it but it has expanded and it's greenish color is comming back. Would it be safe to do a small water change? I don't want to freak it out anymore than it is..

    Probably hypoxia

    HI,
Ive been reading about anemones and their biology and they are sensitive to lack of water flow, shipping one may be really hard on them, I ve shut down filters and pumps to clean things like skimmers and they all start barfing and shrinking up. It maybe stress from shipping. They breathe thru their skin so water flow is important , water quality is important, light is very important. IF they shrink and start barfing check your water Mine seem sensative to KH changes too.
Trying to keep one out of the intakes is very hard, they can control their fluid content and float over barriers stretch up to 5 times their normal length and will sting any soft coral within 10 in of their current location.
I find mine weekly on the move, I lost one recently to a intake after 6mos of healthy care.
Another thing to worry about is in the wild they may live to reach ages that stagger your mind they are not sure how long they can live in the wild some estimates are 300+ years, do we have the right to acquire an animal that can live 3 times our life span for only 6mos to a couple years pleasure.
I am not ordering or buying any more.
    Doug

This one died in a intake to a magnum filter that had a cover on it.

This LTA is getting ready to split into two new ones and I need to find a safe place for him in the tank were he can't get in trouble.
they can be a pain in your ars....

I had one that lived for almost 5 years, until we moved and I think the stress of the move did it in. Yeah, I've already written to Pet Solutions and asked for something different. Not sure if I want to keep them either..I've been reading about that too. My clown seemed so lonely without one, since the other died. Now he's upside down under it loving it. They do stretch don't they! Mine is now taking up about 4-5 square inches on his rock. Other than the white strings, he seems happy.

Hey everyone.....That new yelllow anemone, on my posts, with the clown, was introduced yesterday. It seems to really love it and is a great host! The two that I ordered and received the day before yesterday, the ones this post was based on...well, one is down the toilet and the other is in the freezer. I've gotta send it back and then they will send me new.. I do not want the same thing, infact, I'd like my money back.. I'll not order from Pet Solutions anymore...You Get What You Pay For!!!!!!! The shipment I got in from F&S is so much better quality and everything I recieved seemd so alive, compared to other companies I've dealt with. They are a little more expensive, but IMO well worth every penny!

    Linda
