you said in your first post that you had 2 candy canes.....2 heads or 2 groups of candy cane? The picture shows like 25 heads...is that even your candy canes? If so, then you must have 2 large groups of candy canes you are referring to.

I took one and put it in a lower-light, lower-flow area and left the other in place as a control about 8pm EST last night. I haven't seen them since, and I won't until probably around 7:30 tonight. I'll try to see if I notice any change.

As far as lighting goes, I've found a good deal on a much better Nova Extreme T-5 set-up with 8 bulbs and almost twice the wattage. Hopefully then I'll have no problems keeping LPS. Probably will be at least 2 weeks before I get them though, so hopefully the candy canes will make it that long.

One good thing is that they look about exactly the same as when I received them in the mail, so at least they don't seem to be on the decline.

Any chance someone has a pick of a brown candy-cane like mine with the feeder tentacles extended, so that I know what it looks like for reference?

I honestly don't think there is a major problem with them. They are not dying. But then again, they don't appear to be thriving like the other guys pic of the ones that died. My 3 heads have never puffed up yet. Maybe this guy can figure out what we are doing different from him.

Your candy canes are not brown. They are the same species/color as the ones that I posted. Yours will look like mine once they become healthier.

WOW! Really? Man...had no idea...are they brown because they are unhealthy or because they haven't grown to a mature stage yet?

wait...are the feeder tentacles the little translucent things that I can see extending near the green centers in your pic? I think I have noticed them before with mine.

They're brown looking because they're not healthy and because they're not fully expanded, which makes them look darker. Yes, you can see the feeder tentacles in the picture I posted. Although they can be seen a lot better when the lights are out, mine always extended theirs a little bit when I fed the tank with the lights on.
