Alright, so Iv had my heart set on a flame angel ever since I started out, but I also have always liked the look of other dwarf angels. I had been told so many times that you cannot keep more than one dwarf angel in a tank no matter how big it is. But lately I keep coming across people who have successfully done this. The tank is 75 gallons and I feed 2 to 3 times a day, so I imagine that would aid in keeping the angels comfortable around eachother.

A flame angel is the one angel that will not leave my wish list so if he cannot be mixed with other dwarf angels so be it, but I would LOVE to be able to keep more than one of these amazing fish.:)

The species I am interested in keeping alongside the flame are
    coral beauty angel
    cherub ( pygmy ) angel
    yellow/heraldi/heralds angel
    black nox/midnight angel

Would I be able to keep any one or two of these fish with a flame? If I were to mix 3 each one would look completely different (flame+cherub+yellow) or could I only keep 2? thank you very much for the help. P.S. Please dont say " well mixing angels is not allowed, blah blah blah ", please leave useful information, tips, and first hand experiences thank you 8)

mixing angels is not recommended ........ JK ;)

I used to have a bicolor and coral beauty living happily together in a 55. This was back when i was first getting in to sw before all of the forums and the "rules". I had no problems. Me and a buddy of mine was just talking about this with our LFS owner, and he said you have a greater success rate if they are added at the same time. He said he has alot of clients who have successfully done it. Im going to try a flame and a coral beauty soon in my 55, i really dont expect any problems. They will be the last 2 fish added. But i have to locate a good ORA mandarin before i go for it. I have a 29 cycling right now and can throw one of them in that setup if i have any problems. My suggestion is try it, add them at the same time, and have a backup plan just in case it doesnt work out.

My DT vid in my sig- short ~3min., shows my 3 dwarf angels.

I have a Coral Beauty, then got a flame, then I got a Rust.

All about a month apart, and all are doing well.

The CB and flame picked on the rust the first 2 hours. I shut the lights off, and pretty soon, he was one of the tank gang.

Having a 6 ft 125 probably helps some.

    I say go for it.

I would introduce them at the same time with the lights out and keep the lights out for the rest of the day.

I know this is an old thread, but my GF came home with a bicolor angel yesterday. I turned the lights out for the rest of the day. Today they seem fine, bicolor has his own little cave that he relaxes in. He is really awesome looking, I have to admit.

I think bicolors can be a little more risky in a reef (nipping at corals) but I've also seen and heard of people keeping them with no problem. I'm trying to remember who has one - it's a gorgeous reef tank they have. Anyway, good luck with it! Did you get your flame yet?

What size is your tank and what else is in it?

FWIW, I've kept a Bicolor Angel, Coral Beauty, and Flame Angel together in a 55g reef before with no problems. As already mentioned, I believe keeping them well-fed helps a lot.

    Congratulations, btw. :)

Thanks! It's a 60gal. There is a pretty big cinnamon tomato clown and a Tomani tang that is about 2 months old. Tangs can be another touchy subject... haha

So, now 3 fish, the only other thing I really want is a goby.

I'll get some pictures or something up here.

    Somedays! haha ;)

She wanted to bring home a longnose butterfly, but the LFS wouldn't let her with what we have. They even cautioned the bicolor in a reef. She said we almost had the butterfly instead  :rolleyes3
