we used to have a mushroom on a peice of live rock until we added an emerald crab to take care of our bubble alae problem. the mushroom was at the base of the bubble algae and he ate it. i figured that emeralds are opertunistic sometimes aand that maybe he just kept eating after he finished the bubble....

anyway, will any future soft corals {i.e mushroom leathers, other mushroom polyps, zooanthid polyps. etc...} be safe? he hasn't bothered my pineapple brain coral at all

yea mine were model citizens until i added my first colony of zoas. it was amazing i had 4 of them and as soon as the colony came in they all swarmed it, and started ripping zoas off i was stunned. it was a pain trying to get them out.

Emerald crabs, like all crabs are omnivores. I got some because they were suppose to be reef safe and would take care of hair algae, little did I know they also liked abalones as well. I caught one "red clawed", shell in one claw, eating it with the other. They eat whatever they chose to eat in the tank, wether it be algae or your prized zoanthids. I will never have another.
