Well, I guess I need to make an official build thread since i've turned into this reef nerd all of a sudden. As some of you may recall I bought a bunch of stuff including a 150 for $100 that I found on craigs list. Well money's hard to come by for me right now so I am starting off slowly. Just got done making my own corner overflow walls yesterday.
Heres the basics of what the build will include:
    150gal. 72x18x29
    DIY canopy
steel stand will be overlayed to match canopy
    DIY dual corner overflows
    55 gal.sump/fuge
    blueline 70HD return pump
    custom PVC return manifold
    sump buddy 40 skimmer
DIY 2x400 MH with undecided reflectors

    Much more to be added.

Heres a pic of the tank (was real dirty but cleaned up good) and the DIY overflows:

does that mean the bottom of your 150 is drilled? or are you going to drill holes low on the back? I'm asking since I have a 150 and trying to decide if I can drill the bottom or if I should follow CrazyA's and do a coast to coast with a bean-animal overflow.

how rigid are the over flows you made? look like theyre pretty thin, wondering if they'll collapse when the tank is full of water

They aren't real thick. The acrylic is really tough though. Other than that the shape they are makes them strong too. The are actually a little thicker than the overflows that come in all glass brand tanks. They will have water 3/4 or more the way up them anyway but will be strong enough incase something would happen to make the overflows run dry.

Shoot Veedub, the overflows look like nice craftsmanship, good job. Drilling the back seems to be a good choice. I found a faded sticker on mine that read the bottom was tempered so if you do decide to drill the bottom make sure its legit to do so.

What method of stand pipe you gonna go with?
