This is going to be my official build thread for my new 120 Gallon (48" x 24" x 24") tank. I ordered the tank today.

    My plans:

I am keeping the stand and canopy from my old build. I built this originally to house a 4' 120 Gallon, but could not find one around, and at the time the only company that my LFS could get was too steep for me to pay for that size of aquarium.

I will be keeping the same 40 gallon sump, but it will be getting a face lift. I will no longer be doing Bio-Pellets (EcoBak), and will instead try my hand at all natural husbandry and go with a refugium stocked to the max with macro's! I just ordered a new Skimmer too. I went with a Vertex Omega-150. I quality of the materials and 6 months of watching one at my LFS persuaded me to go this way.

I will be keeping my MH lighting for now. I will eventually go back to LED, but I just bought new lamps, and will ride these until they are done. I haven't fully committed to going mixed reef, but am heavily swaying in that direction. I miss my chalices and paly's.

I will update with pics as soon as something arrives.

Very exciting. What is the brand of the tank? Overflows?

Marineland - Undrilled. I will be making my own "Ghost Overflow" Reef Savvy style...since they no longer sell theirs. ??? Hint! hint!

    FOD, Glad to hear it!

I can humbly attest that a decent skimmer, and some huge Chaeto mass (not huge enough- going to try and triple it when I leap to my 180) keep things in check really well.

For me with my pretty big sps, mixed coral load, I seem to keep up by daily dripping some Kalwasser in for a few hours each morning.

We'll be chomping at the bit for pics, etc.

Well played! Good Call! It's actually easy to make something like this, lots of variations to the theme too.

Cool. Look forward to build. Why did Reef Savvy stop that I wonder?

    If you don't mind,

why the screen name face of deceipt- I think I understand the concept, but I'd like to hear the story behind why you choose it as a screen name.

For me, I'm an avid catamaran sailor, and currently own, sail and race a Nacra Infusion F18.
