Not a lot of quarantine tank threads where individuals document there experience with QT tanks so if figured I'd post mine.

I took my old 55 gallon down and put it up inside my fish room. It will be a quarantine for new fish and coral. It will be lit using my T5s it will be bare bottom with no rock. It will have a heater and hang on back bio wheel with filtration pads. The plan is for observation of 4-6 weeks for fish and 2-3 weeks for coral.

I also used my 55 as a QT/HT once I upgraded :) Now that I am just about done with new additions, I will be taking it down and selling it. It makes for a great QT due to its size. The only downside is if you need to do water changes, and you need more of the same medicine to reach the proper doses. Since you are going to QT corals in there, it sounds like that won't be an issue and you will have a separate HT when needed.

Wasnt clean a couple days ago. LOL. I agree, perfect use for it.

It'll be nice to have as a failsafe. Its perfect for the large fish I plan to house.

    One day, right. Thanks.
