Mogul ? If so look for a Hamilton 55K or a coralife , Red sea and the leader f that pack is the Iwakie's 5 and 55 K's I can get you some that are 3 ,4 K Or just go to a Lowe's and look at the Mercury Sodium bulbs like I use to run in my old Mer. Vapor lamp pods on a construction job. These can be found in a double ended lamp bulb.

I remember my Iwasaki 6500k being pretty red. Things grew like crazy under that bulb. I don't think it would work under an e ballast though. hmmm...

High Pressure Sodium bulbs are really red (think street lights).

We got a new sponsor that does halides exclusively that could help:

Matt those bulbs are great for a commercial grower I love them and they last about 3 yrs.. But the corals do not color up well under them thats why we start out frages under natural sun now but we did use the 65 K then on to the `10K and then under the 14 with plenty of actainc's the last few weeks of growth. About 4 maybe 5 months total from cutting to a nice little colony

Yeah that is a good point about coral color. I noted that when I switched to other bulbs.

There is a Guy I've known since Child hood damn near he is a coral grower and considered a expert in the industry.. He and My Grandfather went way back when he lived in Ohio as a young man. But he and I have discussed the bulb issue many times he is now in Wis. Now I think Maybe Ill ? But he said since he went to the Iwakies about 10 yrs ago he would never change to any other for coral growth and life of the bulbs They are a real workhorse..

Which is it ?? What do you want to do ? Grow corals or have a nice looking tank ? Bulldozers are ugly but to move dirt they can't be beat But I drive a nice looking P/U and not a bulldozer for pleasure :) 55 and 65 have both red and green in them But that also depends on the manufacture and how much metals like lead and mercury they used in the gasses of the bulb. I run the 14 K on my tank at home.. For my pleasure and looks of it. But here at work we use the 65 and then 10's then onto the 14K with extra actanics. One is business and profit the home is pleasure..
