So bought myself a XMAS present.

    Going LED

Bought 2ea of the 250W Atlantic Sun Lite light panels in 14K
Going to try to put them in my hood from front to back instead of side to side for better spread over the tank

Will post pics here later today

    Atlantic Sun

The site does not even have the 250W on the site yet......they upgraded thier 240W

These things are freaking BRIGHT! Going to have to cut my light cycle way back to acclimate the tanks occupents!

Interesting, i hadn't heard of this company til you posted about them, what made you decide on this company, over a DIY build or another brand name fixture?

My LFS has had them for about a year....they started out with a 120W and these 250's just were shipped.

Plus they are based in Orlando and I am a big supporter of local business :)

This was done with a BB so they are not "true" but you can see how bright they are :)

Should have the mods done to the hood tomorrow and will post tank lit pics

    Hi Roger
8" is just about perfect you do not want them to close to the water because of splash, As far as the LEDS they are manufactured by Bridgelux made in the US very good quality led at about half the cost of Cree we have been using them for around 3 years now with out any problems. We also use Rubycon power supplies which are made in Japan and over size the heat sink to run the LEDS as cool as possible this is what give them longevity.
    Thanks George

Thank you for your reply….I bought 2 of the 250W 14K

I just got them and have not installed them yet.
I have a hood on my tanks and if I install on the inside I am afraid I will be too close to the tank surface……..5” maybe………..so looking at just cutting a hold in the top of the hood and set the lights on top. That would give me close to 8” which with the 250W I think is a better option

Do you know who the manufacture of the LED themselves is……are they Cree’s?
