Make a photobucket acount and just upload your pictures from your computer to the photo library then just move your picture to the forum! (Copy the bottom bar then paste to where you want your picture)
The website is Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket, and many people on the forum use it including me! The purple you are seeing on your rock is most likely corailline algae. It is good for your tank. Not positive though...need a picture to confirm. Hope I could help.

I have a couple of pieces of live rock with dark spots like that...at first i thought it was just die off from the curing process. It never went away and all my shrimps love grazing on it for some reason...the purple is hard to really decipher from the pic...it looks like purple coraline algae(good thing)...what's your kh.

Is it soft? If it is, did it come with the rock or did it start growing on it's own in your system? If it started in your system, what are your latest parameters?
