I got this unit yesterday and first thing I noticed was the fans were pretty loud.. especially when trying to watch TV. Anyways, today I installed 3 potentiometers to lower the RPM of each fan. The fans on these units are 12 volt DC and each has its own independent power connections.. I wired in the potentiometers and mounted them on the back of the fixture. Turning them down reduces the noise considerablly and it only cost about $10. Pretty cheap and it will keep my wife off my case cuz of tank noise.. Here is a pic of the adjustment knobs.
