Is it true that if you have a pair of percula clowns that the smaller one is a male and the bigger one is a female????

They are sexually dimorphic. They can swing whichever way they want to. Size does influence.

i am going to have to say yes, depending on what size you got them, all the false percula clown fish (im sure it goes with all clown fish) are born male, the more dominate one which is determined by size turns into a female. so if you buy 2 young percs like i did the bigger one will turn into a female

I think we need to establish that the fish are about the same age, right? 'Cause if they're not, one could mistake a juvenile, smaller clown for the male just because he's younger. . .

if they are a true pair, then yes the smaller is the male.

However, you could get a large male from an old mated pair where the female parished or from whats called "male in waiting" which is what happens in the wild where there is 1 female , 1 dominant male and several subdominant males. When the female parishes, the dominat male morphs into the female and the male next in line steps up and becomes the dominant male. So it is possible to get a lrage male that is wild collected and put with a small female, but thats unlikely.
