I found something cool for my sump area under the stand that I thought I'd share. Don't know about each of you, but I am forever spilling a bit of water here and a bit there when working in my sump. I wanted something that was more water resilient and easier to clean than dripping on the wood of my stand.

It is basically a liquid formica countertop.

    Countertop Coating

I just put it in my under stand area where my sump is (without taking the whole sump out... so right now it is just wet paint. I'll report back after using it a while, but it certainly looks promising

The product works great.... you end up with nice hard finish just like a counter top. It cost something around $15. I don't remember exactly.

    User Notes.
    1) Boy does it SMELL for quite some time. MAJOR fumes. If at all possible, do this outside of in the garage.

    2) It says 3 days to cure.... It means 3 DAYS. I set some lightweight things on mine after 2 days and is messed up the finish. Let it cure completely.

Conclusion, yes, I recommend the product but beware of major fumes and let it cure the full 3 days before touching it.

I was with you up until "major fumes." This is a really good idea though. My stand is getting ruined by all the water and salt.

So would this be advised to use for the whole inside of the stand?

If I had it to do over again, YES, I would cover the entire inside of the stand in this to completely water seal it.
