    Hello all,

    I have this ro system:

    Oceanic Systems | Products | Pure-Flo II - 2 Canister Systems

    "pure-flo 2 50 gpd"

I have been looking here for replacement filters:

    Filters

I dont really know which ones to choose, as you guys know i've been having an algae problem, so i need the best their is...

i also planned on getting this di system and wanted to add it on to my ro:

    RO/DI Add-Ons

    (first item on page ^^)

What part would i need to attach that right onto my current ro system? what should my order be that i have them in (ex: my current order is "input>prefilter>carbon>membrane>output") so where would i add the di in? and what part would i need to actually connect it?

    RO/DI upkeep:

okay, since i'm going to buy some new filters and a di, i want to keep it running for a while, now i've read about this "back flushing" and honestly i dont know what it is or how to do it. i've read the manual and it tells me to unscrew and swap the red output (bad water) WITH the blue output (good water) and to just run it as normal, when i did that (only did it once about a week ago) the water just went out of the blue output very fastly and the red output very slow. is that right? please tell me what i have to do to keep my membrane and filters in good condition.

    thank you!

I would replace the to lower filters with
MARTIKX CTO/2 CARBON BLOCK FILTER in the first stage
MATRIKX +1 CARBON BLOCK FILTER CHLORINE GUZZLER in the second

If you where to get an add on I would get the DI stage
    THE TIDE SINGLE DI SYSTEM
and that would be installed after the 2 carbon blocks

okay so your saying i shouldnt get a prefilter at all?

    and my order should be:

    input>prefilter>carbon>di>membrane>output

    is this also possible? :

    input>prefilter>carbon>membrane>di>output

how would i actually "connect" it?

i dont want to get everything here and realize i need a $0.99 part :-(

    thanks!

I have no Idea what parts are required to add a DI stage. I would assume they would come with everything.
    My unit goes like this
    input -> 5micron sediment filter -> 5 micron corbon block -> 1 micron carbon block -> DI -> RO -> out

On e-bay you can get the exact unit I have for around $80 so I would not spent more than that on bits for your current unit. It may be cheaper just to get a new one.

I thought that having a DI before your membrain would wear out your DI media way, way faster, i could be wrong but this is what i was told and also the way most of the larger stage filters that i had seen were built

    >input>sediment>carbon>membrain>DI>output>

thats the way i have always seen it done. also if you get the DI housing and need fittings you can go to home depot or lows both carry a vast array of fittings for RO and DI. i would suggest getting John Guest fittings they are a snap to put together and easily removed as needed.

The RO/DI on ebay use the cheapest parts and the cheapest filter media avalible (normally filters for human drinking water are used, which leave many minerals in the water for health reasons). If you want good filtration I would recomend that you steer clear of Ebay... just looking out for you guys...
