Default Anemone Dying?

My BTA seems to be shriveling up almost nightly, and most of the time expelling this brown stringy stuff. I know they will shrivel up some times to expel waste (and this stuff coming out sure looks like poop), but this seems like too much. Can anyone tell me what they think? He seems perfectly fine, all full and big during the day and even later in the night, so he seems healthy otherwise. Takes food still - feed him a piece of shrimp (small 1/8 - 1/4 inch cube) about once a week. Seems to have just started happening and nothing really has changed in the tank. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Any corals around it? Maybe something is pissing it off? Unless you feed it too much, he's crapping a lot.

It is most likely expelling waste. They tend to shrink when they discharge waste. Anemones do require strong lighting and good water quality!!! They are actually very demanding to keep alive. They will also tend to "walk" if they aren't happy where they are. They move all over the place as I have found out as one to many have gotten sucked up in the filter or powerheads.

mine was doing the same thing and i figured out that I was feeding it too often. When I fed the tank I would always shoot some his way plus I fed him shrimp 2-3 times a week. Since then I have backed off the feeding to once a week and no sharing of the fish food. Another problem is that he has grown to about 4x his original size in 5 months because of the overfeeding. His little buddy still brings him little morsels now and then. He almost looks scary

How long have you had your BTA? I have had mine for almost 3 months and I went through the same thing as you. My 2 clowns wouldnt go near it and I was feeding it 2-3x wk and it would expel copious amounts of brown slim as well as these brown dime size balls of crap. A month into it my clowns became very attached and would not let me feed him. They would literally kick the food out and act like they would attack me if I attempted to stick my hand in the tank. The BTA went through fazes when he looked like he was literally melting. So I didnt feed the anenome for a few weeks until last week. Now I am feeding him once a week and he has since then barried himself in the sand, which was weird to me but I read that they do that, I just never saw mine do that til now. He looks very healthy now. My clowns are taking care of him so I am not even worried much about him anymore.
