The Chill Solutions CSXC-1 aquarium chiller is the first thermo-electric nano chiller on the market I've seen since the Coolworks IceProbe from 10 years ago. The CSXC-1 looks very similar but with one big difference, the troublesome probe has been replaced with barbed hose fittings to run the chiller inline with a small pump. Any small powerhead would do. That was a brilliant move as it makes mounting a breeze. The CSXC-1 will pull down a 20 gallon nano up to 8 degrees and a 30 gallon up to 4 degrees. The only moving part is the temp-controlled fan. The corrosion on the old Iceworks probe was its downfall, I suspect the Chill Solutions CSXC-1 will be around a lot longer. Available now for $219. Details below.

    • Quiet - No pumps or mechanical compressors
    • Reliable - Only one moving part!
    • Easy Install - No drilling necessary
    • Fully Proportional Temperature Control - Control circuit uses high-efficiency PWM (pulse width modulation) technology to maintain your set temperature
    • Environmentally Friendly - No refrigerants or ozone depleting chemicals
    • Quality Construction - Fasteners are 18-8 stainless steel and the unit is made in the USA

    Average Temperature Reduction
    Gallons of Water °F Pulldown
    10 8-10+
    20 4-8
    30 1-4

*The values shown above are just guidelines.
Actual values depend on individual tank specifications, equipment used, environmental conditions, etc.

    Key Components:
    • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Base - Chemically inert and practically indestructible... This is the same plastic used to make construction hard-hats
    • Ceramic Thermoelectric Element
    • Internal Temperature Sensor - No external temperature probe wires, the CSXC-1 senses the temperature of the water flowing through
    • Silicone Sealing O-ring - High quality silicone allows use in setups with ozonizers and UV sterilizers

I saw this and was going to post the question, why does anyone need a chiller anymore? Then I saw the seahorse comments. Outside of that, i feel like chillers are a thing of the past? Unless you are a halide die hard? Nonetheless, I always like to see innovative nano products.

Temperate tanks require it and they are becoming more popular now given there is an actual supply of said animals.

I would have purchased this for my 20 if I saw 2 months ago. Instead, I spent $300 on LEDs and killed all my thriving SPS , formerly under halides.
