The open-source Reef Angel has just become the 1st controller to fully control the EcoTech Radion LED lamp. Those of you that were excited to get the Reef Angel RF Expansion Module to control your Vortechs now have another bonus for your $99, complete control of all 5 channels of the Radion. What a combo. The possibilities are endless. Throw some lighting in during a peak in your Reef Crest mode or go all out and program the next 5 days to match your local forecast. I foresee many sleepless nights ahead.

AquaMaxx's BioMaxx is the latest in a string of reactors following the pellet mania of late. The BioMaxx stands out for nice A-class thick acrylic and utilizes a 'fluidizing plate' to keep those pellets spinning as you can see in the photos. This reactor comes with an adapter for 3/4" hose or you can hard plumb with 1/2" MPT pipe. A flow rate of 200-300 GPH is recommended for the standard model and 300-400 GPH for the XL version. There is an optional hang-on adapter as well. Available now. Specs below.

Coming out early this year, Taam's Mini Polario prop pump is a big improvement over the more submarine shaped polario that preceeded it. The compact design will certainly find more applications in many tanks. Polario pumps are one of the more unusual prop pumps out there in that they are bi-directional - their controller actually switches their flow on the fly. The compact controller is preset for random flow but is not programmable (yet?). That said, the Mini Polario series can still produce GPH with the 10ML producing 2600 GPH at just 25 watts. An interesting pump, available now.

Description
  • Energy efficient, high flow low voltage water pump
  • Bi-directional outputs to simulate natural wave and currents of the ocean
  • Pre-set random flow and alternating outputs
  • Random flow rates from approximately 600 GPH to 2600 GPH (2,300LPH to 10,000LPH)
  • depending on the model
  • 360°...

Sunbrite Lighting has a new LED aquarium light - the Gen3 T10 LED hood - coming out in a few months. The Gen3 is a nice aluminum fixture with built in controller that was built specifically for the new Sunbrite 3W CREE XP-G LED tubes that are coming out. This lights are powerful. Just two 18" tubes put out 169 PAR at 24" and the Gen3 can hold 8 tubes! Sunbrite will have 20" - 72" Gen3 fixtures available from only $200 - $300. That is a good thing because the Sunbrite XP-G tubes will start at $200 each.

Here are some close ups of an early production model of the CPR Mini Reactor. The strainers on the beta models have been replaced with the snap-on lid with screen as shown. The screen slides off and you will have myriad of screen sizes to choose from. This nice upgrade allows for more options such as phosphate remover, activated carbon and just about anything you can think of.

Various screen choices will be available.
