I agree, but that is a tough task lots of great teams out there. Bob Bradley has a penchant for making some head scratching game plans and the players don't always show up for games. But when they do they can do wonders.

I agree, Onyewu really showed up and played some awesome defense today and Howard in goal with some amazing saves.

It is good we have two of the best defending, as we appear to be much more offensive minded than in the past.

a 1-1 tie is exactly why soccer will never REALLY catch on here...they have to find a way to make a clear cut winner because that crap happens too much in that sport.

Baseball is odd in that regard. There's scores of foreign players in the US - largely Latin and Japanese, so I guess you could say it's a world series because of the origins of the players.

The World Cup has even more countries that participate in the run-up to the actual World Cup, too, so saying 32 is kinda lowballing it.

They also need to add much more complex rules and a judge's decision on using those rules. ;D

We also got a gift from god with Robert "butterfingers" Green screwing up and letting a guranteed save slip right out of his hands and trickle into the goal. It could have been truly amazing had jozy altidore scored that shot in the second half. Tim Howard is one of the best if not the best keepers out there. The US has a good chance this year to do something great.

Maybe the "World Series" can be renamed to "Continental Series" ?;D

Stoked to see some more "football" fans. I saw the USA play El Salvador in qualifying (SLC,UTAH) and the atmosphere was amazing. Plus there is a cool reef shop near Rio Tinto stadium. This years team has a ton of talent and if they play well it is going to be a fun ride! Howard played awesome and our d did a great job of containing Wayne Rooney! USA! USA! USA!

great result for the USA , IMHO

I honestly hope the USA does well in this tournament , because despite the sometimes low scorelines it can be a beautiful game, and watching the best in the world on the greatest stage in the world is a great experience IMO

A good competition for the USA should generate more interest, and this thread for example will attract more attention the longer the USA remain in the comp
