    I have one for each of my tanks. 1 similar to the one posted above, and a pair of the older more industrial style UPS's seen below.

    My priorities for the UPS are the heater, either a small powerhead or HOB filter, and a low power light source if possible. If it seems like the power is going to be out for a while, i'll shut the lights off, and intermittently start and stop the water flow to try and conserve power.

    Does it just act like a battery back up? And where can you get them?

    thats basically what it is guitarman. and its uninteruptible, not uniterupted as i said earlier. sorry just caught that gaff. they dont necessarily give you alot of battery time tho. all dependant on how much power theyd be drawing. smaller ones might only get a half hour tops. but maybe better than nothing.

    I use Ups as well, and have the heater, and a powerhead, and a hob Aquaclear that place in the tank. We use both generators and ups at work for backup. I take care of the battery room and on one ups we have 40 deep-cycle batteries and the other we have 40 maintanece batteries for the B12 and B24.
