Should work as long as you place the clam on the rocks for crocea and maxima or the sand for a derasa.

My guess would be for hlaf the tank maybe. You wouldnt get enough coverage for the whole tank though. Friend of mine had a 250w that did good for half a tank on a 75 but the other half the tank was pretty dark to do anything with.

Edit: now that I think about it I'm not sure if it was a 250w or 150w...I just know it was double ended and the reflector was pretty small.

    a 55 gallon is 4ft long I believe?

a MH is good for a 2ft area I believe?

in which case 2 of them would be ideal
if you only have 1 of them, 50% of your tank will need some additional illumination IMO

you could work it in with some t5 or vho as your main lighting and then put the 150 in the middle for additional light. with a 150 you will only be able to keep sps about half-way and higher

A single MH can cover 3 feet easily, but that usually pertains to 250w MH. In any case, any reflector that could, would be way too wide for a 12" 55g.

Yeah it should be good with like 2 t5s. Just make sure u only put the light demanding corals under the halide.
