Will one 48" t-5 actinic do anything w/ 500 watt halides

    Depends on the bulb but a blue plus by ATI will be noticable.

    what kind of fixture runs a single bulb? If you are retro fitting a single t5 you can do two for a few bucks more.

    It is a retrofit. I only have room in my canopy for one though.

    My thoughts are that even if you can't tell the difference with the naked eye it's still gonna be beneficial to your coral. Plus, it would make a nice transition from day/night from the halides.

    looks good, good call DSC Reef on the benefits to the coral. We sometimes forget why we do things.
