Have you all ever tried Petsmart? They only sell Freshwater fish, and not saltwater. Though they do have SW supplies, etc. They also have pet adoption programs, etc. What is cool, is they actually have a sign up (at the store by my house anyway) that says that they don't sell SW fish because they are not equiped to take care of them, and they are too precious of a resource to waste. They actually encourage you to go to SW specialty stores for live stock. Talk about corporate responsibility!

So anyway, all the benefit of PetCo, and none of the downside. So I never go to petco, and that makes me happy :)

An individual would have to prove that they were harmed as a result of the actions of Petco. Not many people are willing to spend alot of money on a lawsuit that they will most likely lose. The ONLY way to harm Petco is to boycott them. Unfortunately, not many people are willing to give up the convenience and economic advantage of shopping there. Just look at Walmart. All kinds of labor and other issues with that company but the stores are packed all day every day. :)

    Petco

I used to work for PETCO about 10 years ago. I do Know more about what goes on in these stores in regards to what most people don't know or ever see. I do have to thank them for getting me into this hobby. But, they are horrible. I live in Sunriver (BEND) Oregon and have to drive 45 minutes (passing PETCO 15minutes into my drive) to go to my LFS that's not so local. I have made a call to the corporate office. The guy that trained me in aquatics has since become the head guy for aquatics. I have not received any return calls. The standing aquatics person shortly quit. She would always complain about the health etc. of her department. The funny thing is amongst my recent visit I happen to notice they are carrying mushrooms and polyps. Just one more thing to destroy. The PETCO here is a joke. Unfortunately there are some things I won't drive 45 mins. to buy so, I do shop at PETCO and PETSMART. PETSMART happens to take good care of their aquatics dept. but, don't carry SW which I would buy anyways. Even if you have to drive far I recommend finding a good store.

I have a friend who works part time at a particular PETCO in New York. The days he works, they have a lot of SW customers. On the days he doesn't work much fewer people shop there.

The store manager is breaking company policy by allowing Mark to do what he does. Their SW section has UV, Skimmers, frequent water changes, etc.

This was actually my friend Tim who was trying to help the new aquatics boss at PETCO. It was a mess but it actually turned out quite funny in the end. He set up an aquaculture facility in his basement and this weekend I set him up with some choice corals and fish. PETCO now has a direct competitor in town. ;D

i love petsmart.there filtration for their freshwater fish is massive and expensive.it looks like a filter for a swimming pool lol.unlike your petsmart it does'nt have a pet adoption program.i checked with them 1st cause i like their store before going to petco.petsmart has one but i think its through the dog pound so they would'nt take our guinee pig.
