I saw his set up its a 265 display in the lobby of his business and behind the wall is his sump/fuge equipment room.he says its comming on but its not cooling the water at all.I cleaned the intake filter before I gave it to him aswell as the cover.its a 1hp oceanic.I know they don't do so well in shipping but that is why I hand delivered in it the front seat so it wouldn't be bounced around.not really much to set it up ... input and out put.he seemed competent enough to get that much right.but as I stated its in a tiny room with no ventilation

Ya, that sucker gives off a lot of heat.

You must have better roads than we do. We could hear the innards bouncing some when we moved.

All that heat is getting re-absorbed by the sump sitting in the 100 degree unventilated room. No chiller will overcome that as the heat will just go right back into the sump tank. He MUST vent the chiller's exhaust out of the room, or ventilate the room so the heat goes somewhere other than right back into the sump.

Adding the chiller with no ventilation will ADD heat. I agree with the others, not your problem.

All true unless you made some representation about the chillers capabilities. If you said something like "sure, this will cool your tank" it's a closer call. I still believe you don't owe him since youre neither the manufacturer not a distributor, but if you did say something of the sort in an add or otherwise, let us know.

I highly suspect its the venting, but there is a slight change it could have had the coolant pooled in the wrong place, and he did not give it enough time to settle back. You shouldn't turn on any chiller/refrigerator for 24 hours unless you know it was transported vertically.

He could have left it laying on its side for a while, then hooked it up.

Have him pull the chiller and try it on another tank in a properly vented space.

IN a situation like his, a vent fan is required. I've had to do that on numerous installs.
