I sold a 1hp oceanic chiller 2 days ago.I tested the chiller 3 days prior to the sale and it was working flawlessly.I hand delivered the chiller to him 3 hours away(6hr round trip).I charged him $50 for gas and tolls (had to cross bridges seeing as I live on lond island) wich I feel was cheap.he claims his tank is still running 90* even with the chiller.

    His set up:

265g display, roughly 130g sump fuge space behind the wall in a converted bathroom(8x6').chiller is in the same room as the sump(closed door/non air conditioned).he has 3 led pendants in a hood on the display in the lobby of his business wich was air conditioned.he had what looked like a large trade winds chiller and he said it was junk and didn't work.

To me it seems like this is a combination of his set up(chiller in a closed non ventilated/cooled room and possibly a run away heater or bad pump.he wants me to drive back to him and refund him the cost of the chiller and his $50 and take the chiller back.tolls alone are over$25 each trip.

Your only responsibility is to prove that the chiller is working. Everything else is on him. If the chiller is under-sized, in a hot non-ventilated room, run away heater, bad return pump, etc... that's his problem.

So, if the chiller is putting out heat on the exhaust side, it's working and you are done.

Don't do it, there's obviously something wrong with his setup, if it was working when you delivered it I would say its not your problem anymore, give him the number to the manufacturer and tell him to contact them

Absolutely his responsibility,I agree that it sounds like a combination of issues, but you sold him a working chiller, you have a full right to a clear conscience with no obligation to him.

Cool thanks guys that's what I thought.I've offered him sevral ideas and left it at that.I still don't see how a tank running leds could even hit 90 chiller or not unless there's something else adding heat.but all well I did what I could

I agree with what was said above, if it worked when you sold it, he should contact the manufacturer.

I agree with everyone. You did not sell him a 78 degree tank. You sold him a chiller.
he has to understand the the exhaust of the chiller is likely heating his sump

Chillers don't actually travel that well sometimes. It may have worked when you tested it, doesn't mean it worked when he set it up. Just sayin.....

Is he saying the chiller is coming on? Any way of seeing if it has it set up correctly? Video of his settings? Vent filters clean?

What size is his tank? What size and type is the chiller?
